The Skirvin Hotel was built in 1910 by oilman William Balser Skirvin. He was determined to have the most superb hotel in all of the southwest. The Skirvin's doors opened in 1911. It also happened to be one of the first places with air conditioning in Oklahoma. |

The St. Vincent Asylum was built in 1945 in Northeast Oklahoma City. This mental institution was built specifically for men with mental instabilities.
St. Vincent was originally run by the Brothers of Mercy. Patients ranged from a 7-year-old boy to a 90-year-old man. |
